CEO: Gazprom to raise gas purchases from Uzbekistan in 2016
MOSCOW/ASHGABAT, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to increase purchases of gas from Uzbekistan in 2016, CEO Alexei Miller told reporters on January 4.
“We highly appreciate the result of the talks…Uzbekistan is our reliable partner in the gas sphere, and we will continue to develop our mutually beneficial cooperation,” Miller told reporters.
Turkmenistan’s national gas company Turkmengaz said in a statement that Gazprom’s unit Gazprom Export will stop buying gas from it. Some media reported that the decision was made due to higher purchases from Uzbekistan.
In mid-2015, Turkmengaz said Gazprom had not paid for Turkmen gas since early 2015, while in June 2015 Gazprom filed a suit against Turkmengaz to the Stockholm Arbitration Court seeking a revision of the gas price.
